Why I Slept In Gym Clothes For 30 Days

For all the snooze button lovers of the world – I am with you! In fact, I’ll set my alarm for earlier than necessary, knowing I’m going to snooze it at least once. My morning sluggishness is what kept me from getting out of bed and getting in a gym workout before I started my day. The very thought of scouring through my closet for workout clothes before driving to the gym kept me covered in warm blankets and heavy eyelids…until I decided to eliminate the problem.

Sleep In Your Workout Clothes

While it may sound odd at first, think about the ease of waking up, literally rolling out of bed and throwing on your tennis shoes before you’re ready to walk out the door for your gym workout. Going to sleep in gymwear eliminated my excuse to stay in bed and it can do the same for you! If your workout clothes aren’t comfortable enough to sleep in, lay them out right beside the bed. Everything should be within an arm’s reach to cut down on time and effort.

Take The ‘Work’ Out Of Your Gym Workout

Whether you’re an early riser or prefer a gym workout late in the evening, there are a few tips to build into your routine – much like sleeping in your gym clothes – that can make creating and sticking with an active lifestyle easier.

  • Pre-workout snack: Toss an extra piece of fruit in your gym bag or prep a green smoothie in the freezer so you have something readily available for a boost of energy before you hit the treadmill.
  • Have a plan: Don’t walk into the gym undecided what you’ll work on for the session. Will you focus on cardio, strength training, or flexibility? Cut down on time wasted browsing the machines.
  • Playlist ready: Ever notice the people at the gym scrolling through their playlist trying to find the right beat for the next set of reps? Create a playlist you love so you can make your workout more efficient.

When you plan ahead, you’ll save time and energy – both of which you’ll need when you hit the gym.
